Many theories about the origin of the Shadeo exist, but none can agree on their beginning or how their ephemeral shadow bodies work.
The Shadeos themselves remain quiet on the issue.
The orbs at the end of their long, wispy ears seem to be the only part of themselves with any permanence, a light in the darkness that glows with the same color as their eyes, and burn with the same intensity.
The curved horn emerging from the center of their foreheads and their powerful tails are used for intimidation, though the Shadeo usually tries to avoid physical combat.
For everything their bodies lack in physical strength, their minds more than make up the difference.
A Shadeo has an incredible strategic mind and is regarded as one of the wisest species in Kayrth, said to always be plotting.
The crueler among them are often drawn to the naive or gullible, seeking to manipulate the trusting.
This makes others often judge them as cold-hearted and cruel, though the Shadeo's interests tend to lay more with mild tricks and pranks than with serious harm.
Anyone who looks past such immediate judgments and befriends a Shadeo will vouch for the species, claiming that earning their trust makes for a steadfast and intelligent friend who always has a plan to help those close to them.
Old Description;
The Shadeo is a phantasmal being, its entity made of evanescent shadow properties not entirely understood by the minds of today.
The wispy beads on the ends of their feathery ears glow with a dim, ethereal light in the dark, rumored to be ever-smoldering with the life force of the Shadeo they are attached to.
Their protruding, slightly curved horns on their foreheads and tails are mainly used for combat and in intimidation, although if they can help it, Shadeo rarely get physical with their opponents, as they are extremely wise and strategically minded, having a master plan for even the simplest things.
More often than not, these pets are found flocking to the naive, using their impeccable manipulation skills, complex ideas, and trickster hearts to get what they want.
Because of this, they are generally seen as cold-hearted and intentionally or unintentionally cruel.
Those who plumb the depths of a Shadeo's heart dare to claim otherwise though, as they have found not a sadistic sprite on the mortal plane, but a steadfast friend ready to help those close to them out of their greatest problems.
