Shapa; Adoption Center
While the large eyes of a Shapa can be easily taken as a sign of cute innocence, their blank stares are actually their primary method of self defense.
Their blank, unblinking eyes make the recipient of such a stare extremely uncomfortable to the point of retreat.
In rare instances, there have been reports of individuals being put under a trance from the stare’s effect.
While effective against some creatures, this trance is not a foolproof method of protection. As a result, Shapa traveling in large groups called flocks for better safety.
They are not the brightest species in Kayrth, but their sunny optimism and fun demeanor make Shapas sought after for their companionship.
Shapa are quick to attach themselves to those that protect or care for them, seeing whomever has done so as part of their flock.
Their thick wool coats are considered quite a luxury and make great clothing, and Shapas will often offer shavings of their wool as a form of payment or a gift to a friend.

With unusually large eyes, shapa are known for both their expressiveness and blank stares, with the latter being effective enough to be used as a mild form of self-defense.
Targets of this passive gaze have been noted to become extremely uncomfortable and express a desire to leave; rarer instances have reported actually being mesmerized by the shapa's defense mechanism -- more than long enough for them to dart away from attack.
As mentioned, however, it is still a rather weak form of defense that not all are susceptible to, and because of that this species tends to travel in large groups called "flocks" as they instinctively seek safety in numbers.
They are not, by any means, among the brightest of all of Kayrth's many species, but their companionship is still sought among some audiences for several reasons -- their innocent optimism and cute demeanor being cited as two of the top reasons.
It also helps that they quickly attach themselves to others if protected and cared for and do not mind offering shavings of their luxurious wool coats as a form of payment.
